In accordance with the School's Strategic Intents (SI5) - "To develop a spirit of national pride and patriotism", Prestonians celebrated the Cultural Day 2010 on the school premises on Saturday the 6th of November, 2010. All parents and guardians were invited to witness the event. All houses represented different tribes in Nigeria. At the beginning, there was a carnival style parade around the school during which all houses galantly displayed the elegant colours and attires of the tribes they represented. Speeches were made from each house and this was in the senior and junior categories. This was followed by drama, dances and a traditional cooking competition. Various traditional foods prepared by each house were tasted by the panel of judges. Overall, Tornado House came first with 90 Housepoints, Shekinah House came second with 88 Housepoints while Aqua and Terra Houses tied in the third position with 82 Housepoints. All Prestonians, staff and parents all joined in the 'demolition exercise' that followed (Food demolition!) It was the first time many students tasted some foods from other tribes in Nigeria. We learnt a lot about various tribes in Nigeria. The day was quite enlightening and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
