In terms of self-expression, self-awareness and interpersonal skills, the arts are central to the school's holistic ideals. Music provides the lifeblood for the health and vitality of the whole community. All students in the junior school are taught music as part of the curriculum and those who wish to continue studying music in the senior school are given the opportunity. Twice a week, there are music practices for the whole school as part of the extra-curricular activities in the school. However, under the auspices of the Salem Academy of Music, Preston International School's own school of music, Prestonians who enrol learn to play a wide variety of musical instruments and also have the opportunity to appear for the MUSON (Musical Society of Nigeria) and the British Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) certification examinations both in the theory of music and practical musicianship. Membership of the Salem Academy of Music is subject to availability of places, payment of fees and purchase of the musical instrument.
A vibrant and highly trained school choir and orchestra, grace occasions within and outside the school and stage their own concerts. The home choir also hosts professional performers from time to time and also organize visits to concerts and other performances.
